All the funds raised at the Bazaar go to community aid
projects. Each year the community aid projects we support
are many and varied. The projects are approved and
monitored by the Community Aid Committee (CAC), which
adheres to strict guidelines to ensure that the money is
well spent and spread through a range of sectors such as
health, education and training for employment. This
involves working with hospitals, schools, orphanages and
organizations such as the National Fund for Vietnamese
Children and the Women's Union. Health, education and
social development projects are selected according to the
following guidelines: 1) they would not normally be funded
otherwise; 2) they have a humanitarian perspective; 3) they
benefit women and children; and, 4) they create benefits for
a broader community.
The Community Aid Committee members are all volunteers who
pay their own costs for the screening and support work they
do. As a result, there are no administrative costs
associated with the CAC and 100% of money raised by the
Bazaar goes directly to the charities.
In 2008, the CAC spent $136,256 USD, directly affecting the
lives of 1231 children and 1488 adults stricken by disease
