What: What is a Scavenger Hunt? Your group will be provided with a
list of items to find (scavenge) from various stores around
Hoan Kiem Lake, or some easy tasks to complete. (Don’t worry, I will provide a map and a guide for each group!)
Why: To introduce you to some of the many places where you can find all those things you can’t live without!
When: Tuesday April 6, 2010, 9:45 to noon for the Hunt
9:45 to 1:30/2:00 if you are staying for lunch
Cost: The Scavenger Hunt is Free to HIWC Members.
You pay only for your lunch should you decide to stay.
Wear: Comfortable Shoes and a sun block!!!

The 9th Annual HIWC Photo Exhibition -
2nd - 18th April 2010

The 2010 HIWC Photo Exhibition is held at Sofitel Plaza Hotel from April 2nd - 18th 2010. The HIWC invite all HIWC members and their families to submit photos to the exhibition.

This year's exhibition is open two weeks and three weekends for greater exposure! We encourage everyone to enter their most prized photos of Ha Noi!

Theme for the photo Exhibition is: 1000 Years Celebrating Ha Noi!

Nam Hai Weekend May 14-16 2010

HIWC has worked with the Nam Hai Resort in Hoi An to secure a special,
one-time rate of $220 net per one bedroom villa per night* (see terms and
conditions below), inclusive of breakfast, taxes, and 20% discount on spa
treatments, for a two-night weekend stay on May 14-16, 2010. This is an
extraordinary offer relative to the Nam Hai's weekend rack rateof $750 net for
the same type of accommodation. More importantly, this provides a wonderful
opportunity for you to experience the beauty of China Beach Vietnam's most

Dates: May 14 to May 16, 2010

Reservation Deadline: March 1, 2010, but individual room payments will take
place upon checkout on May 16.

Rate: $220 net per one bedroom villa per night for two nights the weekend of
May 14-16. This applies for double occupancy, but families with 2 small
children can be accommodated in the villas as well. The package includes
free breakfast, taxes, and a 20% discount on all spa treatments for event
participants. Please note that this rate will only be valid if our group
reserves a minimum of 30 villas by March 1, 2010. In the unlikely event
that less than 30 villas are booked, a rate of $260 net per villa per night
(inclusive of breakfast, taxes and 20% spa discount) will apply.
Reservations will be secured by individual credit cards but no upfront
payments will be required by March 1 and guests will pay for their rooms
individually upon checkout on May 16.

Children's Playgroup
An informal weekly playgroup for young children every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 5:00. Parents are welcome and of course nannies are welcome for busy/working parents. Venue changes each week.

Choir

If you enjoy singing with a group, come join the Hanoi International Choir which gives several performances a year. No auditions, but you should be able to read music and sing in tune. Rehearsals Mondays from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.  For more information please contact

Community Aid Volunteers Program
The Community Aid Volunteers program provides hands on practical help. This means giving up your time and providing assistance where needed. These volunteer's jobs will vary from joining a playgroup for orphans to assisting in a day care center for mentally handicapped children and young people. You do not need to have a special education or medical background to volunteer. We need people who can be committed and devote some of their time to do humanitarian work to join our group.

Cooking Classes
If you would like to receive the monthly notices for the classes please email France Marcoux at francemarcoux@gmail.com to be added to the email roster. Members sign up for individual classes not a series. Classes are not advertised to the whole membership.

Metropole Cooking Classes
If you want to impress your guests and have the privilege of learning from the Chefs of the different restaurants at the Metropole, join this class!!! Every month, a group of enthusiastic ladies learn how to prepare a variety of dishes, discuss ingredients and try the delicious results! This is a demonstration-type class.

Hilton Cooking Classes
Chef Frédéric Meynard will teach us once a month in one of the kitchens of the Hilton. Menu is varied and reflects the many experiences and countries Chef Meynard has under his Chef's hat! This is a demonstration-type class.

Special Classes
From time to time we will hold special hands-on classes at the Hanoi Cooking Center as well as other activities such as vegetable carving classes for example. Suggestions are welcome.



English Conversation
Come laugh with us for an hour and a half every week! This group is for those who have some English knowledge and wish to meet in an informal way to gain confidence in using the language. We meet every Monday morning from 10.00 am to 11.30 am.

Evening Book Club

HIWC Beginners Tennis Group
