Moving to Hanoi
Beginning your move to Hanoi
If you have confirmed your move to Vietnam, your visa agent may advise you on relocation services. There are international companies that can assist in your move to Vietnam, providing services to help you settle in including following up with customs clearances, finding a suitable school or home, and recruiting household help, etc. These companies include but not limited to:
Asian Tigers Group
Crown Relocations
Santa Fe Relocation
Saigon Van International Relocations
During the physical move, you may need to consider transit and storage as well as asking for storage facilities with air-conditioning. The weather in Hanoi is very humid, transportation and storage may directly affect the condition of your furniture and other personal items.
If you travel light, another option is to contact airlines flying to Vietnam directly and enquire about their cargo services. This is a more affordable option if you are only moving a few boxes.
When you arrive in Vietnam, ensure you retain the Vietnam Immigration Card you are given on arrival at the International Airport and tick the “unaccompanied luggage” box. This is should be stamped by the Customs Officer and you will need this card to get customs clearance for your goods that are shipped separately.
